She began university studies in jail and made history when she became the first woman with a serious conviction to be admitted as 'a fit and proper person' to the bar of Queensland.Earlier this year, Debbie mounted a spur-of-the-moment crowd-funding campaign to pay off the court debts of Indigenous women incarcerated in Western Australia for defaulting on fines.The campaign raised over $400,000 and has led to the release of 11 women from prison.
