It takes place during the time between the Land of Waves arc and the Chunin Exams arc. Team 7 is on a mission to rescue a man lost in the forest. Kakashi leaves his Genin to go check out where he thinks the man is. While he is away, a ninja shows up and kidnaps Sakura. The boys travel to pursue them until they come to a cave, where they work together in order to save her. Using a clever technique involving a smokescreen, chakra threads and some fire, Sasuke dispatches the enemy. However, the ninja is used to convey a message to Sasuke, after which the ninja\'s body moves no more. As Kakashi arrives on the scene, a little white snake is seen wriggling out of the body to Orochimaru. The OVA ends 3 years post incident, with an older Sasuke and Tobi. This suggests that the OVA was only a reflection of his past.$
